LEGEND

Mineral Deposit - A significant amount of natural compounds that have formed through geological processes. At Eagle, the mineral deposit is comprised primarily of nickel and copper, but also includes small amounts of other minerals.

Ore Body - Ore is a concentration of minerals that can be mined, processed and marketed at a profit. It is economically defined.

Host Rock - Low value rock that houses an ore body. At Eagle, the host rock is largely comprised of perodotite, an indicator mineral of more valuable minerals, such as nickel and copper.

Bedrock Outcrop - A protrusion of bedrock (the hard, consolidated layers of rock generally located beneath the top and subsoils) out of the earth’s surface. At Eagle, a bedrock outcrop is located east of the underground ore body, providing a natural location for the entrance, or portal, to accessing the mine.

Underground Decline - A ¾ mile long underground roadway (tunnel) that will connect the entrance of the mine to the ore body. The decline will be used to first, access the ore body and build the mines infrastructure, then transport vehicles to bring the mineral deposit to the surface, and allow workers to access the main area of the mine.

Portal to Mine - Entrance to the decline leading to the ore body/mine located at the bedrock outcrop.

Main Surface Facilities - Approximately 90 acres roughly ¾ mile east of the underground ore body and Salmon Trout River that will be the location of the surface operations related to the Eagle Mine and where ore will be brought to the surface before it is transported off-site for processing.

AAA Road - The main road which cross the Yellow Dog plains, and which will provide primary access for workers.

Salmon Trout River - The primary surface water feature traversing the site, Kennecott has designed the Eagle project to be protective of this important water resource.

Ventilation Duct Aggregate Backfill Site – – This duct will draw fresh air from the surface to allow clean air to circulate within the mine for workers.

Surface road from Portal to Storage Pad – The road leading from the entrance of the mine to Kennecott’s main surface facilities that will allow trucks to transport the ore.

Site Access Road – The road that will provide access to Kennecott’s main surface facilities from AAA road.

ABS (Aggregate Backfill Site) – The site where aggregate will be stored before being combined with waste rock, gravel, and cement to backfill mined out areas for stability and ARD prevention.
